When I shred a file with "Super File Shredder", a warning "Broken file" appears, and the warning does not go away even when I exit "Super File Shredder".

I looked for it in Task Manager, but I can't find what it is.

It goes away when I restart the computer, but how can I get rid of it without doing that?

The warning appears in my native language, but here is a rough translation:

"Broken file: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. Run the CHKDSK utility."

The "Broken file" warning you are encountering is likely an issue with the file system on your computer, rather than the "Super File Shredder" program itself. The warning message advises you to run the CHKDSK utility, which is a Windows tool designed to check and repair disk errors, including corrupted files or directories.

To run CHKDSK without restarting your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Open "Command Prompt" as an administrator. You can do this by typing "cmd" in the Windows search bar, right-clicking on "Command Prompt," and selecting "Run as administrator."

  2. In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:

    chkdsk /f
  3. If you're trying to repair the system drive (usually C:), you might be asked whether you want to schedule the check for the next time you restart your computer. In that case, you might still need to restart to fully resolve the issue.

  4. If the corrupted file or directory is on a different drive (e.g., D: or E:), replace the "C:" in the command with the appropriate drive letter:

    chkdsk D: /f
  5. Let CHKDSK complete its scan and repair any errors it finds.

After running CHKDSK, check if the warning still appears. If it persists, consider backing up your data and performing additional diagnostics or seeking professional support, as continued errors might indicate a larger issue with your hard drive.
